Ngunu will implement DEI practices and foster an inclusive culture in newly created role
MINNETONKA, Minn. – Feb. 23, 2022 – Accra, Minnesota’s largest provider of homecare services, has promoted Mary Ngunu to be its first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead. In her new role, Ngunu will be responsible for implementing and executing all efforts regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion at Accra.
“In 2020, Accra established its first DEI committee, and from the onset, Mary assumed a leadership role to further our efforts to foster an inclusive environment for all,” said John Dahm, Accra’s president and chief executive officer. “Mary’s commitment to an equitable approach that celebrates everyone’s differences has helped make Accra the best workplace it can be.”
Ngunu joined Accra in 2019 as an Onboarding Specialist, assuring that Accra caregivers experience a positive and swift onboarding process before providing care to their clients. Ngunu became a member of Accra’s first DEI Committee and has since led many of its projects and successes, including organizing DEI trainings for Accra leadership, coordinating a monthly support group for employees and developing Accra’s first DEI monthly newsletter.
“At Accra, we respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages, and our DEI Committee is working to ensure all voices are valued and heard,” Ngunu said. “I am dedicated to helping create a place where each employee can bring their whole self to work.”
In her new role, Ngunu will focus on identifying opportunities to implement DEI practices through all Accra business ventures. She will play a critical part in assuring that Accra fosters a strong DEI culture throughout the workplace.
